Microsuction Service

What is the microsuction clinic?

The microsuction clinic provides a safe and effective treatment for the removal of ear wax using gentle suction. The procedure is carried out by trained clinicians and is usually quick and comfortable. Microsuction can help relieve symptoms caused by a build up of ear wax, including blocked ears, hearing difficulties and discomfort.

To help ensure the treatment is effective, patients are asked to use olive oil drops in the affected ear or ears for 5–14 days before the appointment.

Who might need microsuction?

You may benefit from microsuction if you experience:

  • Blocked ears
  • Hearing difficulties
  • Discomfort or pain caused by ear wax build up

The service is available to patients aged 16 and over who are registered with a GP practice in Central Camden PCN. Patients who wear hearing aids will be prioritised for appointments.

Where is the clinic held?

The microsuction clinic takes place at the Ampthill Practice and Bloomsbury Surgery.

How do I access the service?

If you think you may benefit from the Microsuction clinic, please contact your registered GP practice. If you are eligible, your GP practice will make a referral to the service and a member of the PCN team will contact you to arrange an appointment.
